Due to Weather

The Maitland Jazz and Blues Festival scheduled Friday and Saturday, April 1-2, is canceled due to inclement weather forecasted this weekend.

The difficult decision was announced Thursday morning after careful consideration of potential weather impacts and the safety of event guests. Planned road closures on Horatio Avenue, Independence Lane and Packwood Avenue also are canceled.

The next scheduled music event will be the Getdown Downtown street party featuring the band Epic from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 6, on Independence Lane.

JIMMY HALL

Jimmy Hall first gained notoriety as the lead vocalist, saxophonist, and harmonica player for the band Wet Willie, which emerged from Mobile, Alabama in 1970. His unique brand of R and B infused rock and roll swagger propelled the group’s “Keep On Smilin’” to the Top 10 on the Billboard singles chart in 1974.

LUCY YEGHIAZARYAN

Yeghiazaryan has established herself as a leading voice in the world of straight ahead vocal jazz in and outside of New York City. She tours domestically and internationally and is a recipient of grants from the Doris Duke Foundation, Chamber Music and the New York Foundation for the Arts. She has shared the stage with Grant Stewart, Harold Mabern, Houston Person, Bernadette Peters, Rodney Whitaker, Arto Tuncboyaijian, Steve Williams and many more.

MICHELLE AMATO

Amato has performed or recorded with big names such as Liza Minnelli, Al Green, Sandi Patty, Michael McDonald and Yanni. She also was a featured soloist with the Memphis Symphony and the South Florida Pops.

BOBBY BLACKMON

Beautiful Bobby Blackmon appears with his B3 Blues Band and as a Solo artist at venues throughout the the state of Florida. He has opened for BB King in 2010 & Buddy Guy in 2008.

The Jake and Elwood Blues Revue is a Blues Brothers™ act featuring amazing impersonators who have been performing for more than 20 years across the globe for thousands of public and corporate functions.

UCF'S FLYING HORSE BIG BAND

The Flying Horse Big Band is one of the premiere performing ensembles of the UCF Music Department. It has appeared at the Montreux, Switzerland, and the North Sea Jazz Festivals, as well as numerous festival and concert appearances domestically.
